Well, itβs taken a while! A couple of false starts, a crisis of confidence, the seed of an idea that never seemed to germinate and most importantly of all, technological ineptitude. Hopefully thatβs all behind me now and Iβm ready to write a blog that I hope youβll enjoy reading.
For a big chunk of the year Iβm travelling, here, there and everywhere. Sometimes itβs for work. Travelling with students, guiding them through the art, culture and history of Europe and beyond. Encouraging them to be responsible, thoughtful, engaged and empathetic travellers.

Other times itβs purely for pleasure. Gill, my wonderful wife and I pack up Vera, our camper van, and head off, here, there and everywhere. This summer it was a 10 000 km odyssey to the top of Norway. A couple of weeks ago it was a short hop to walk sections of the Costa Brava coastal path. Weβre not sure where it will be next.

The time now seems right to start the blog Iβve been wanting to write for a long time. The seed has started to germinate. I think I know what Iβm going to write about.
So, what is it going to be about? Itβs not going to be a travel guide. There wonβt be handy tips or how to pack tutorials. Iβm not trying to be Rick Steves or The Lonely Planet. Itβs going to be about art, culture, beauty, the things that lift our spirits, the things that make us human, the things that make life worth living.

So by going here, there and everywhere for work and leisure Iβll share with you the things I encounter on my travels around our amazing world. The things that bring me joy, the things that make me sad, the things that give me pause for thought. Art, culture, people, nature, thatβs what my blog will be about. I hope you will enjoy it. Next stop Paris. See you soon.
